Dear Fellow Wogger's,
It is almost 10 p.m. on Thursday and I am just getting a chance to write to you all. I am so sorry. I am going to have to skip out on the Thursday post this week. Sorry for the bad news. But I do have some good news: I started a new job this week. It has lead to my schedule being a little off as I have lots of things to read and do this week.
So, you will get a full post on Monday and hopefully by next week I will be back in the groove of things and everything will be back to normal.
Workouts have not been going well this week but the nutrition issues have. The grass clippings (while strange texturally) aren't that bad.
See you all on Monday. Goodnight!
A blog about Wogging (walking/jogging). I feel that we need a source for those of us that aren't ever going to have abs like we see in Runner's World and we don't want to qualify for the Boston Marathon. We just want to do some races, get in better shape and have some fun. In short, we just want to Wog!

A Little Knowledge is a Dangerous Thing.
Good Day my Fellow Woggers! So many things have happened I hardly know where to start. I think I will begin with a 1/2 Marathon Countdown update. I now have another Wogging partner for the (say this in the Monster Truck voice) San Antonio Rock & Roll Marathon and Half Marathon. My first partner is my good friend and motivator, Tricia. She will be going totally insane and Wogging a full marathon this time. My new, just signed up on Saturday, Wogging partner is ... My Wife! Yea! Christina will be Wogging the 1/2 with me. I am very excited as I think this is something we can share. By that I mean not only the 1/2 Marathon Experience but also the training and the healthier lifestyle.
Another big issue that has come up is I have armed myself with knowledge. Well, I have armed myself with books. I have bought some fitness and nutrition books.
In addition to the ones you see, I also have ordered but not received the book "Reversing Diabetes" by Dr. Julian Whitaker. Now let me be clear about one thing Woggers: I do not endorse products (until someone pays me to). I don't know if these books are any good but I figure it can't hurt. The problem is of course it can hurt. They is too much information out there and it's often contradictory. When I look for reference books I try to either get a recommendation from someone I trust or I go with a publisher I know about. For example I am a Methodist and I know that Abingdon Press is the Methodist Publishing firm. So I can be reasonable assured books by them are going to be main stream Methodist Theology. Likewise, I have found the Dummies books to be pretty middle of the road. The Run Your Butt Off is from Runner's World and the Reversing Diabetes was recommended. So hopefully I am arming myself with some good books. I will let you know what (if anything) I learn.
The other thing I did this week was make a trip to the Health Food Store. As you may recall from Thursday's post I was lamenting the fact that I realized I am going to have to eat healthier. So I went to my local health food store and the owner spent over an hour with me talking about some options. The good news is I feel like she was not just trying to sell me product. The bad news is I bought all this:
I know what you are thinking: Sucker. Maybe. But I did try and limit myself to a few purchases. Actually, the "Ultra Man" multi-vitamins and Cod Liver Oil I already had. But I wanted to include them so you could see what supplements I am trying. Basically I am taking a pro-biotic, cod liver oil, a multi-vitamin, adding protein and Wheat Germ to my breakfast, a fat burner and a drink for in between meals to help my metabolism. The drink is basically Grass clippings.
If I add it to juice it has no taste but when I added it to water ... well it was rough. You can't tell from the photo but it is shredded green stuff. It all seems very healthy but it turns everything I have mixed it with the color of Kermit the Frog in a blender. The other thing I'm taking is hemp hearts. That's right .. Hemp Hearts. Fortunately (unfortunately?) they are totally legal. Here is a pic of my stash:
So basically it is very raw protein and I add it to breakfast (I am either eating yogurt or whole grain hot cereal) and it should keep my blood sugar and energy stabilized until lunch. The funny thing is the owner of the health food store gave me the hemp hearts in a sample size for free. But what if I get hooked on them? I fear when I go back I will end up working the payment off. Didn't I see this story line in Traffic?
Wow this has been a long post. But so much happened. The last thing I want to add is that my work outs went well. I think our visit to Seaworld in 100 degree heat was one of the best exercises I have ever had. I am going to try and stick to the plan I gave for week 1 until I am 10 weeks away from the San Antonio half. And then I will adjust. I will try to get that whole 10-week schedule printed for you at some point.
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful week Wogging. I am excited that I am running (Wogging) into so many people that are interested in what we, the Wogger's World Nation, are about: Fun, getting healthier, not getting carried away or taking ourselves too seriously. Take care and remember: It's a Wogger's World out there.
